About Dan

Dan Smith is running for Waller County Commissioner to continue serving the community he and his family proudly call home. Dan has been married to his wife, Kathy, since 2007, and together they are raising their son, Bennett, in Southern Waller County. Family and faith are central to their lives, and the Smiths worship together at Katy Community Fellowship.

Dan’s conservative values are rooted in personal responsibility, limited government, and respect for individual liberty. He believes strong families, faith-based communities, and local control—not government overreach—are the foundation of a healthy and prosperous county.

Professionally, Dan brings more than 20 years of experience with a Fortune 100 company, including over a decade in senior leadership roles managing hundreds of employees and multi-million-dollar budgets. That experience shapes his approach to public service: set clear priorities, demand accountability, work efficiently, and respect the people footing the bill.

Elected to Katy City Council in 2021, Dan earned the trust of residents through steady, results-driven leadership. Working collaboratively with fellow council members, the mayor, and city staff, he helped deliver historically low tax rates, increased investment in public safety, infrastructure and drainage improvements, expanded parks and green space, and long-range planning to support responsible growth.

Dan believes government should focus on its core responsibilities and stay out of matters best left to families, churches, and individuals. As a public servant, his guiding principle has always been simple: government exists to serve the people, protect their freedoms, and steward taxpayer dollars wisely.

Dan Smith is running for Waller County Commissioner to bring proven leadership, conservative values, and a commitment to service to Southern Waller County.
